{"id":1352,"date":"2015-11-25T11:24:58","date_gmt":"2015-11-25T10:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/excellence-esthetique.fr\/?page_id=1352"},"modified":"2021-12-29T23:28:27","modified_gmt":"2021-12-29T22:28:27","slug":"botulinum-toxin-botox","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/excellence-esthetique.fr\/en\/botulinum-toxin-botox\/","title":{"rendered":"Botulinum Toxin \/ Botox"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>What is Botox?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Botulinum toxin type A has the role to temporarily block the release of a neurotransmitter that causes muscle contraction: acetylcholine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is this muscular contraction that causes rhytides.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Why have Botox?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The action of the toxin is to transiently block the nerve conduction in the injected muscle, which results in a momentary weakening of the muscles treated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This allows either to reduce the wrinkles (forehead, around the eyes ...) or slightly lift up certain facial features (including eyebrows, corners of the mouth ...)<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>The consultation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the first consultation, your surgeon will ask about your wishes (volume, shapes, wrinkle locations, etc...)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and after examining you (each muscle group is studied separately - various grimaces<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), he will inform you of the different options available.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The surgeon begins by making an accurate identification of injection zones.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And also informs you of the counter-indications for botulinum toxin or Botox (other medication, allergies, hypersensitivity disorders of muscle activity, etc...).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Photographs will be taken in order to follow the morphological evolution of the face.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>How does an injection of Botox work?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Injections should be made several times with intervals of 3 to 6 months to achieve some stability of the results.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the second injection, the results may last longer (6-8 months).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conversely, it should be noted that if we stop the injections, the treated muscles regain their function prior to injections.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>After Botox injections<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the two hours after the injections, it is recommended that you relax and do not get involved in intensive sports<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should also avoid massages for 24 hours following the session.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In practice, the injected areas are slightly swollen during the hour following the injection, and you can resume social or professional activity slightly after.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The effect of the product will be stabilized within 2 weeks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A session can be arranged up to 15 days after to possibly fix some residual\u00a0imperfections. It permits the evaluation of the injection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \"after\" photos are compared with photos before and stored by the practitioner.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>The risks of Botox<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like all medications, botulinum toxin injections may cause side effects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An allergic reaction can occur exceptionally and is characterized by symptoms such as pain,\u00a0increased sensitivity, itching, swelling, bruising.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, the only notable risks are related to the way the injection is administered : targeting adjacent muscles can have non desired effects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>After an injection of botulinum toxin<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The effect of the product will be stabilized within 2 weeks.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A 15-day \"check\" can be done with the patient to correct some residual asymmetries.
