  • Aesthetics and function are inseparable when it comes to rhinoplasty.
  • This young woman complained of having a significant hump and a too large nose. Furthermore, she was breathing very badly on one side. Her very retruded chin accentuated the perception of a nose that was too strong.
  • A structural ultrasonic rhino septoplasty combined to chin augmentation with a Medpor implant allowed to correct the hump, refine the nose, improve nasal breathing and balance the face.
  • The result is shown frontal view at 6 days, 3 months and 15 months after the operation.

Overprojected nose with nostril show and wide alae

Profiloplasty on overprojected nose with nostril show and wide alae, by Dr. Gerbault:

  • Overprojected noses are even more difficult to treat when they’re combined with wide alae and a significant nostril show, plus an over-rotated tip. The whole nose must be harmoniously lowered and moved backwards.
  • When the chin is too small, the feeling of overprojected nose is increased, and a chin augmentation is desirable. It has been realized with a Medpor implant introduced by a submental access.
  • The ultrasonic rhinoplasty has harmoniously reshaped the nose so that it could keep its overall appearance despite the move back of the nose.
  • The structural rhinoplasty with the use of numerous cartilaginous grafts has allowed lowering harmoniously the tip of the nose and the alae.
  • A small trimming of the nostrils has been also performed to reduce their width.
  • The result at 3 months post-op is natural and the scars are barely visible.

  • The retruded chin increase the feeling of a too strong nose and enhance the hump when it exists. The neck skin is sometimes also loose.
  • The chin augmentation with a Medpor implant, combined with a structural ultrasonic rhinoplasty allow to balance the whole face and to treat the hump.
  • The result is shown here at day 6, with very little bruising, and 1 year after the rhinoplasty.
